In summer, Tamarack Lodge offers on-site table tennis, bocce ball, croquet, a horseshoe pit and a picnic area with barbecue.
Winter brings: skiing, both downhill and cross-country, snowboarding, snow shoeing, ice skating, sledding and snowmobiling. Major ski areas within a short distance are Squaw Valley (site of the 1960 Winter Olympics), Alpine Meadows, Northstar at Tahoe, Homewood, and more if you are willing to drive a little further. Also, each winter there is the Snowfest Winter Festival.
Year-around activities: sightseeing, dining, shopping, gaming at local clubs,
live big-name shows, movies, bowling and sea plane rides. Within easy driving distance,
Virginia City (a National Historic Landmark and queen of the Comstock Lode), Carson
City (capital of Nevada and home of the state museum, formerly a U.S. Mint), and a
railroad museum, as well as Reno with its world-famous Auto Museum and Casinos.
